While we were in vacationing in Ontario, we took a drive down to Santa's Village, a theme park in Bracebridge. Steve's parents used to take the kids to Santa's Village when they were little and it turns out it is a bit of an institution in cottage country. When I first read up on it, I was kind of incredulous. Santa in the SUMMER?! Well, you'd better believe it! ....
The Village is filled with a bunch of little rollercoasters and rides for the kids, along with other entertaining activities, like a swan paddleboat, bouncy castle, zipline and sky challenge for older kids, carnival games, pedal carts and a chance to meet Santa and feed his reindeer. There is also a splash pad for the kids and a small beach area, so pack swimsuits and towels if your kids are keen. It was a little rainy and chilly when we went, so we skipped the splash pad, but it looked like a lot of fun!
Another activity that Oscar and River really enjoyed was Santa's Summer Sleigh, a boat ride that takes you a little ways down the Muskoka River and back. It's pretty scenic and the boat does a couple of spins in the water before heading down river, which the kids LOVED! All in all, it was a pretty fun time for everyone and we'd definitely recommend it (even if just for novelty's sake) for a little morning or afternoon of fun for the kids.
